Michael Weinstein has spent his entire life working for our Democratic values
Raised by generations of Democratic leaders, Michael learned at an early age the importance of public service and having the courage to stand up for what you believe in. Michael’s grandfather, Moses Weinstein, was Chairman of the Queens Democratic Party and served as Speaker of the New York State Assembly. He was later elected Justice on the New York Supreme Court.
Michael’s mother, Dr. Barbara Weinstein, proudly served as CEO of Family Central, a not-for-profit full-service family support agency. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Kids in Distress and is the President of Kol Tikvah Synagogue.
Michael’s father, Senator Peter Weinstein, helped lead the fight for the Equal Rights Amendment in Tallahassee as a Florida Senator. He rose in the ranks to Senate Majority Leader, and he was later appointed by Gov. Lawton Chiles to serve as a circuit judge before being elected chief judge.
As a young man, Michael picked up the Democratic mantle and joined the Collegiate Young Democrats. He was involved in various campus organizations, including serving as Student Senator and he spent his summer interning with Florida Gov. Bob Graham (U.S. Senator at the time).
Michael’s passion for the law and service led him to Nova Southeastern University, where he received his Juris Doctor. Michael was elected by his peers to serve as Student Bar Representative for three straight years.
Michael served our community as an Assistant State Attorney from 1998 to 2002, where he ensured justice was served. In 2001, he was recognized as one of the county’s top prosecutors.
Now, Michael is an attorney in private practice, where he works to protect the rights of individuals. Michael spent 3 terms on the Florida Criminal Procedure Rules Committee drafting court rules and procedures to be used across the state.
Michael Weinstein is the Democratic representative we need in Tallahassee. He is a proven fighter who will get things done.
